“From the beginning until the end of the school year…”
I teach second grade in a part of Alexandria where many of the students' families are from Chirilagua in El Salvador. In fact, so many families are from this small town that the neighborhood is called Chirilagua. I use resources from Teaching for Change and the Teach Central America website from the beginning until the end of the school year, and I encourage my colleagues to do the same. —Jeryl Payne, teacher, Alexandria City Public Schools
TeachingCentralAmerica.org is a project of Teaching for Change, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide teachers and parents with the tools to create schools where students learn to read, write, and change the world. Teaching for Change developed this website to encourage and support teaching about Central America in K-12 schools so that students can learn about this region, which has many ties to the United States through foreign policy, immigration, commerce, and culture.
